Clissold Swimming Club Christmas gala

The clubís Christmas gala took place on Friday 01 December at Kings Hall. Almost all the swimmers in the club took part and competed in a series of races. The swimmers were divided into teams, with each team containing swimmers from all squads. It was great to see everyone prepared to have a go and there was some fantastic swimming. Many of those who entered were swimming a competitive race for the first time and for many this was the first time they had had a time recorded over any stroke/ distance. But among those who already had times recorded, almost everyone set a new PB. Swimming against your peers certainly seems to make you swim faster!
The following swimmers achieved a new PB on the night:
- 25m freestyle: Liam, Ben D, Aaron B-S, Arthur, George G, Grace, Andrea, Eve O, Gaspar, Miron, Rene, Joanna
- 50m freestyle: Fred, Olivia B, Joshua, Ewan B, Sean, Tylar, Devon, Amina, Safaa, Bibsi, Matthew 50m breaststroke: Adam, Millie, Kassia, Latisha, Charlotte McV
- 50m backstroke: Carlotta, Sam, Katherine M-B, Max O, Euan T-R, James, Rachel, Catherine H
- 25m fly: Tom W-T, Hannah M-B, Max D, Inez, Charlotte B-C, Demera, Leyla
- 50m fly: Joe, Kieran B, Dan, Hannah M
- 100m IM: Jonathan, Gabriel, Abigail, Sarah
Most of the races were very closely contested, making it an exciting evening. In the end, the Red team came in fourth place, the Yellow team was third, the Blue team came second, with the Green team in first place. Congratulations to all the swimmers in the Green team:

The gala could not have taken place without a great deal of hard work by many volunteers and parents. Thank you very much to the Team Captains - Safaa, Jonathan, Charlotte and Matthew, to the Team Managers -Alina, Adel, Chelsea and Kate, to the timekeepers, judges, recorders and other officials -Greg, Andy, Sylwia, Julianne, Lorna, Jenny, Pauline, Sarah, Rob, Cress, Colin and Tim.
A huge thank you is are also due to Sharon, who planned the party and organised ticket sales and catering, to Myrtle, who organised the raffle and to all who helped on the registration desk and with serving food and clearing away on the night Lolita, Chock, Monica, Maddy, Liz and Pete.
