Dear swimmers and parents,
This is to say a huge well done to everyone who swam in Saturday’s gala. As you know, we came in a close second behind Leyton. This means that after 8 of the 9 galas in the league, we are now in = 2nd place with Leyton. Northolt are in 1st place and so far in front that they have won the league, but the 2nd and 3rd places will be decided at the final gala of this year’s league which is Leyton’s home gala on 11th November. So we could come in 2nd if we beat Leyton!
Out of the 32 individual races, we got a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in 20 of them.
Congratulations to:
- Katie - 1st in 50m backstroke and 2nd in 50m fly
- Charlotte McV & Joe - both 1st in 50m freestyle
- Sarah & Gabriel - both 2nd in 100m freestyle
- Charlotte B-C and Tom H - both 2nd in 50m freestyle
- Demera - 2nd in 50m backstroke
- Ben and Bibsi - both 2nd in 50m breaststroke
- Euan - 2nd in 25m breaststroke
- Joshua - 3rd in 50m backstroke and 3rd in 25m freestyle
- Dan - 3rd in 100m breaststroke
- Loulou - 3rd in 50m breaststroke
- Ben and Max O - both 3rd in 25m backstroke
- Matilda - 3rd in 25m fly
- Tylar - 3rd in 25m freestyle
We also got upgrades in 3 races - Joe in 50m backstroke, Caroline in 25m backstroke and Inez in 25m freestyle. These swimmers all of course got PBs, as did a further 13 swimmers:
- 100m freestyle - Sarah
- 50m freestyle - Charlotte B-C, Tom H, Joe
- 25m freestyle - Tylar, Joshua
- 100m breastsroke - Safaa, Dan
- 25m breaststroke - Amina
- 50m backstroke - Katie, Demera, Joshua
- 25m backstroke - Ben
- 50m fly - Kieran B, Katie
- 25m fly - Matilda
Dan, Kieran and Tom did particularly well, taking just over 11, nearly 10 and 6 seconds respectively off their PBs in their respective races.
We did particularly well in the relay races, with 9 top 3 places in the 14 relay events.
Ist places went to:
- Boys 4 x 25m breaststroke team - Kieran B, Max O, Tylar, Jonathan
- Boys 4 x 25m freestyle team - James, Fred, Rene, Joe
- Boys 4 x 50m medley team - Gabriel, Euan, Jonathan, Tom H
- Boys 8 x 25m freestyle team - Ben, Joshua, Fred, Max O, Tylar, Rene, Ciaran P, Dan
- Girls 4 x 25m freestyle team - Charlotte B-C, Millie, Carlotta, Abigail
The boys 4 x 25 medley team (Ciaran P, Max O, Gabriel, Tom H) came in 2nd, while the girls 4 x 25m breaststroke team (Safaa, Catherine H, Millie, Abigail), the girls 4 x 25m freestyle team (Catherine H, Charlotte B-C, Carlotta, Loulou) and the girls 8 x 25m freestyle team (Matilda, Inez, Amina, Millie, Charlotte B-C, Carlotta, Sarah, Abigail) were all 3rd.
Both the boys (Dan, James, Euan, Jonathan) and girls (Demera, Amina, Inez, Sarah) 4 x 50m freestlye team were upgraded, as was the boys 25m freestyle team of Tylar, Fred, Rene and Kieran B.
Well done to all the swimmers who all contributed to this really good result.
Thank you to Sharon and Myrtle who sold programmes and organised the raffle, Judith and Ann who kept the scores, Richard for timekeeping, Chris, who made a great announcer, Lorna and Andy, who supervised the team, Greg, who was one of the officials, Kate, who dispensed drinks to the thirsty officials and timekeepers and to anyone else who helped in any way and who I have forgotten to mention.
