St Neot's gala report 2007

17 swimmers took part in the St Neot's Graded gala on Saturday 23rd June, competing in a total of 70 events between them.

Joanna took part in the events for 9 year olds and achieved 5th place in both 50m back and 50m freestyle. She achieved new PBs in both these events and also in 50m breaststroke and in 25m fly. She set new U10 girls club records in both 25m fly and 50m backstroke.

So as not to be completely outdone by her daughters, Kate competed in the Ladies 50m freestyle and came away with a medal for 4th place.

The remaining 15 swimmers swam in banded races (Band A lowest to Band D highest), with entries being determined by prior PBs rather than age group.

Demera won a trophy for 2nd place in 50m fly (Band A), while Max came 3rd in 50m backstroke (Band A), and Leyla (Band B) and Hannah (Band C) both came 3rd in their respective 100m IM races.

Matilda came 4th in the Band C 50m freestyle race, while Hannah came 5th in the same race. Demera (Band B)and Abigail (Band D)both gained 5th places in 50m breaststroke.

Safaa was awarded a speeding ticket for swimming faster thanthe cut off time for the Band C 50m fly event.

Most swimmers gained 1 or more new PBs, with Demera and Leyla excelling by achieving new PBs in all 5 events.

PBs were gained by the following:

Abigail set new U16 and Open girls club records in 100m IM, while Gabriel set new U16 and Open boys club records in 50m fly.
